Mambe Waterproof Outdoor Blanket Review
A quick note: the Mambe isn't technically a chunky knit blanket. It's a waterproof fleece blanket. We include it because it's the best answer to "I want a cozy blanket I can actually use outside." Chunky knit wool or cotton would be ruined by damp grass. The Mambe handles it fine.

Who it's for
The Mambe is for people who want warmth outside. Sports events, campfire nights, fishing trips, outdoor concerts. The waterproof layer keeps moisture from seeping through from damp ground or bleachers. The fleece interior keeps you warm.
If you want a cozy blanket for indoors only, pick one of the wool or cotton options above. The Mambe is a different tool for a different job.
Waterproof test
We placed the blanket waterproof-side down on wet grass for 30 minutes. The interior fleece stayed dry. We poured 2 cups of water on the top surface. It beaded and rolled off. After 3 years of field use according to customer reviews, most people report the waterproofing holds up well if you avoid high-heat dryer cycles.
Care
Machine wash cold, tumble dry low. High heat can degrade the waterproof coating. Avoid fabric softener, which clogs the waterproof layer. After washing, the coating may need a low-heat tumble dry cycle to reactivate.
Verdict
The Mambe earns Best Outdoor. It's the only blanket on this list you can put on wet ground without ruining. For outdoor use cases, nothing else in our group comes close. For indoor use, go with the Estelle & Finn or Bearaby instead.
